Discover our special little corner of Scotland
Black Isle Yurts is close to the beautiful, historic villages of Cromarty, Fortrose and Rosemarkie, only 30 mins drive from Inverness. It’s a perfect location for glamping in the Scottish Highlands. Here you’ll get close to nature in an area of great bio-diversity. There are spectacular cliff-top views, as well as direct access to a dramatic coastline dotted with caves and secluded sandy beaches.
Although the Black Isle is not really an island, there is plenty of coast to explore, and the region’s most famous residents, its bottlenose dolphins, can be seen frolicking in the Moray Firth and at nearby Chanonry Point.
Why we yurt
As a family, We have been fortunate enough to have lived on the unique Black Isle for over 30 years. In 2014 we bought Easter Hillockhead, a small working farm, which we believed had great potential for agri-tourism. So with Jenny’s background in both farming and yurt making the idea of Black Isle Yurts was born.
Each Yurt is unique. Lovingly hand built and individually decorated and furnished for a comfortable, relaxing break, whether its a few days or a few weeks.
I stayed here for a last minute break away with my children. Jenny was very accommodating, kind and knowledgeable. She made us feel right at home. The Yurt, Aspen, was spacious with a lovely wood burner, camping stove and all of the cutlery and crockery you need. The Hub has great facilities and the seating area offers lovely views. We stayed for some peace, quiet and beach fun...and the location delivered. We only live an hour away, but we'll be back. Thank you Jenny!

I cant praise these yurts enough. Beautiful location, the Rowan yurt I stayed in was fantastic, lovely bed, gas hob and a cosy stove. The hub a short walk away had hot water, showers, toilets and sinks for dishes. Would definitely stay here again. No midges either and there is a beach...steep steps down so you need to be fit to do that but worth it.The hosts Jenny and Jude were so helpful and friendly.Thank you for my amazing stay x

Holly yurt What an incredible place! The amount of work that's gone into this project is quite something, very impressed! Had an amazing 2 nights in Holly yurt, a wee bit down the hill, but good for the legs and worth it for the beautiful setting and sea view out to chanonry point. So good to disconnect from the matrix! The kids were in their element, catching lizards, that were all around and exploring the woodland trails (hoping to get a glimpse of the pine marten), magic! A brilliant trail winding down the cliff to the beach too. The yurt was class, well kitted out and the bed was as comfy as could be, best sleep in a long time! The hub/bathrooms were immaculate, friendly, chilled out and very hard working owner and midge free:) what a place! Thanks!

Scotland at it's best. Some memories last forever and that can be said for the experience and ambience of the Black Isle and Black Isle Yurts.

Truly the most beautiful place to stay, I was there for 5 nights with a group of 20 people (2 kids included) and as soon as we arrived I immediately felt at peace with the silence there. The people that worked there were incredibly helpful and friendly, showing us all around and where we were staying. The yurts are beautiful and have a fire place, a kitchenette area which was so lovely to have breakfast in when we woke up and lighting, the beds (daybeds included) are super comfy too. It was nice and warm in the yurt when we put on the fire, which was always lovely to wake up to being cosy. We were in Willow and we had a compost toilet very close by and it was a beautiful walk to it.The main hub is amazing with everything you need, bathroom, showers, kitchen, tables & chairs, and a little bonfire area. It was the perfect place for us all to gather for lunch and dinner, to chill and hang out and to also celebrate a birthday and the solstice. The beach is nearby and there’s lots of beautiful areas you can explore around. I truly have never felt more at peace, it was the perfect location for all of us to be in and we were all incredibly sad to leave. We’ll definitely be back again and so grateful to the owner and those working there for everything🙏🏼If you get the chance I would highly recommend this place. It’s a beautiful location to reconnect with nature and to be around community and connect with each other. I truly feel this experience has been so transformational for me and I’m incredibly grateful for that. The perfect place to fill your cup and connect💫

What an incredible experience! Stayed here for 5 nights with a group of 20 (kids included). Jenny is a wonderful host and has created an amazing space. We celebrated summer solstice and a birthday here. The outdoor kitchen/dining area was definitely my favourite part - being able to cook outside and have plenty of room to have multiple chefs cooking up a storm was a truly unique experience. The bathrooms were cleaned everyday thanks to Jenny, Jude and Lilith. Who are all so kind and we’ve definitely made lifelong connections with. The yurts are stunning, each with their own quirks. Walking through the forest and hearing my friends nearby made it feel really safe and special. This is a place to connect with nature, explore forests, beach and caves, a place to embrace community living and getting back to basics. It is such a peaceful place and to spend it with such wonderful people made it one of the best experiences of my life. We all hope to return for an even longer time next year! Thank you!
